Center Overview

Ohio Clinical Research, LLC (OCR), conducts phase II and IV multi-specialty clinical research trials for the pharmaceutical industry. Trials conducted include: obesity, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, erectile dysfunction, migraine headache, birth control, type II diabetes, overactive bladder, nocturia, gout, flu, pneumonia, sinusitis, high triglycerides, asthma, allergy, and atrial fibrillation.

Clinical Research Experience

Ohio Clinical Research, LLC was established in 1999.  Our principal investigators (PI’s), and sub-investigators (Sub-I’s), specialize and are Board Certified in the following areas; Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Obstetric/Gynecology, Gastroentrology, Endocrinology, Neurology, Rheumatology, Pulmonary Medicine, Dermatology, Allergy/Immunology, Cardiology and Cardiovascular disease, Orthopedics, and Urology. Within our group we have investigators with as much as thirty years of clinical research experience.  Our staff consists of two full-time coordinators and one part-time coordinator, two of which are RN’s with several years of clinical research experience. Two of our coordinators have CCRC certification. All of our coordinators are certified in the packaging and shipping of hazardous materials.

Facility Description

Ohio Clinical Research, LLC has two locations. Our primary site is located in Lyndhurst, Ohio which is twenty minutes east of downtown Cleveland and is easily accessible from most major highways and public transportation. The nearest hospital and emergency room is three miles away.  We are a free-standing building with a certified lab and x-ray facility on site, which includes a bone densitometer. We also have access to on-site CT scan, MRI, ultrasound, and thallium stress test.  Our second location is in Willoughby Hills, OH at the intersection of Routes 91 and 6. Also a freestanding office with sufficient parking. Easily accessible from I-271 and I-90.

Investigator Experience

Our investigators teach and have privileges at some of the nation’s most prestigious universities and hospitals. There is a combined total of more than 50 years of clinical research experience among our physicians. Dr. Terence Isakov, MD, OCR’s founder, was named one of the fifty most interesting people in Cleveland in 1997.  His contributions to medicine and the community have made him a respected and trusted physician and teacher. He is board eligible in family practice and along with Dr. Bertsch continues to see patients at one of the largest and privately owned family practice groups in Northeast Ohio. To date Dr. Isakov has conducted over 250 clinical trials as a principal investigator. He is a member of ACRP and in 2004 attended Good Clinical Practice Training and certification course sponsored by ACRP at their headquarters in Balitmore. John P. Bertsch, MD is the PI in Willoughby Hills, Ohio and has more than 7 years of clinical research experience. He is Board Certified in both Family Practice and Geriatrics.

Patient Demographics

Ohio Clinical Research, LLC, recruits potential subjects from the private practices of our investigators as well as a database that currently consists of some 100,000 lives.  When appropriate we utilize newspaper, television, and radio to reach our patient population.

Other Information

Our objective at Ohio Clinical Research, LLC, is to establish and maintain relationships with pharmaceutical companies and medical monitors to accurately facilitate study protocols. We follow strict protocol procedures and SOP’s to ensure patient safety and efficacy. To date, we have worked with the following pharmaceutical companies: Astellas, Watson Laboratories, Novartis, Searle, Merck, Sanofi-Aventis, GlaxoSmithKline, TAP Pharmaceuticals, AstraZeneca, Takeda, Dimethaid Health Care, Sepracor, Pfizer, Boehringer Ingelheim, Daiichi Sankyo, VIVUS, Esperion Therapeutics, Romark Laboratories, NexBio, Inc., Omthera Pharmaceuticals, Warner Chilcott, Serenity Pharmaceuticals, Ardea Biosciences, Inc., PhaseBio Pharmaceuticals, Forest Research Lab., Essentialis, Inc., Trygg Pharma Inc., and Bristol Meyers Squibb. OCR does utilize a central IRB.
